Skyddat arbete hos offentlig arbetsgivare
A specially adapted job for those who have a disability.
What is public sheltered employment?
Protected work with public employers, skyddat arbete hos offentlig arbetsgivare, is a fixed duration job that is specially adapted to your circumstances. The employer who hires you will receive a contribution towards your pay. The objective of protected work is to develop your ability to work and thus improve your chances of getting a job.
You can have a protected work for up to 12 months. If we assess that you need continued support, the protected work may be extended.
Who is eligible for public sheltered employment?
You can get protected work if you have a disability that reduces your ability to work. You need to be registered as a job seeker with us. You also have to satisfy one of the following conditions:
- You have a cognitive disability or a reduced ability to work due to addiction or dependence problems.
- You are entitled to support under the Act on support and service to the disabled.
- You have not worked in the past or have been away from work for a long time due to severe mental illness.
How it works
- We assess your current situation and your conditions before making a decision on public sheltered employment.
- Together with you and your employer, we will explore the need for adaptation and support related to the relevant job, and the conditions of the workplace. We will draw up a document for decision-making that includes modifications and support.
- The employer is then responsible for ensuring that you get started in your new job and that you are given the support you need.
- We will contact you after the job begins to follow up on how things have gone for you and for your employer. After that, follow-up of your employment is carried out based on your and your employer’s needs.
Pay
You have the right to a salary and other employment benefits from your employer according to the collective agreement.
