Validering

What

Validering is a structured assessment and evaluation of your knowledge and competencies. This applies to the knowledge you have acquired through studies, but also at work and in everyday life. Your vocational skills are assessed through practical and theoretical tests. After the assessment, you will receive a certificate or a rating that means that your knowledge is formally recognised on the Swedish labour market. You can also get recommendations on what else you might need to supplement your competencies. This may mean that you can search for studies or jobs more quickly.

A validation can take anywhere from a few days up to several weeks.

For whom

Validation is for those who need to have their competence and skills formally recognised. You need to be registered as a job seeker with us. You also need to satisfy one of the following:

• You have reached the age of 25 or have a disability.
• You are at least 18 years old and face significant challenges in entering the labour market due to special circumstances.
  
• You have degrees or certificates from abroad that are not recognised on the Swedish labour market.
  
• You have competence that does not come from formal training and education but, for example, from your leisure, non-profit or hobby activities.

How it works

Together with you, we first review your past experience. Based on this, we assess whether validation is appropriate for you. The validation is then carried out by an assessor from a supplier who has a contract with us and who you choose. You can choose most easily here on the website. When you have chosen, we book the first available place for you.

• You can demonstrate your professional skills in a specific trade or profession. The assessor determines if you meet the knowledge requirements and if so you are given a grade or certificate. This can then be used in your job seeking or if you wish to have supplementary training and education.
• If you do not meet all requirements, you will receive a report and a certificate for what you have passed. You can also get recommendations about what else you might need to gain, through training and education for example.
• Together with us, you make a new plan for your next step.

Other ways to have your skills assessed

There may be other ways to have your skills assessed, but without our help. For example, if you have completed training or education in a country other than Sweden, you can obtain a statement describing what your education corresponds to in the Swedish education system. It is the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR) that makes this assessment.
