When you get sick or are caring for a sick child

If you get sick or are caring for a sick child, you need to inform the Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen). When you must submit notification depends on what compensation you are receiving. For example, if you are participating in one of our programmes, you must always notify us of your absence.

When you are participating in a programme

If you are participating in a programme and receiving compensation such as activity support (aktivitetsstöd), development allowance (utvecklingsersättning), or introduction benefit (etableringsersättning), you must notify us of your sickness absence on the first day you are sick. If you do not, you will not receive any compensation while you are sick. If you are sick for more than seven days, you must submit a medical certificate to the Public Employment Service in order to keep your compensation.
