Before your first meeting
Prepare as much as possible before having your first meeting with us. This will help you feel more secure and make our meeting more effective so your journey on the road back to work goes more quickly. Here are some tips for how to plan for your meeting.
CV, grades, certificates
Review and update your CV. Collect together your grades, certificates and other documents that prove your experience. Also locate any doctor’s certificates that may be relevant, for example if you have a disability that limits your possibilities to look for work or carry out certain tasks.
Unemployment benefit is money that you can receive when you are unemployed and registered with us. Check whether you are a member of an unemployment benefit insurance fund. If you have questions about your membership or something else, contact your unemployment benefit office.
Here you can read about what the conditions are and how to apply for benefit. Read more before the meeting and if you have questions write them down and bring them to the meeting.
If you are not a member of an unemployment benefit insurance fund, it might be a good idea to apply for membership. You can find more information about which unemployment benefit insurance fun suits you best on the Hej a-kassa and Sveriges a-kassor websites.
Begin planning now
Think about what you would like to do. What kind of job could you consider accepting immediately? Do you need to supplement your education or experience? Think through your goals and how your route to a job might look. Write down your ideas for the next step and bring them to your meeting with us. Also think through and write down any questions you might have for us.
Do you want to take the next step straight away? Here are three tips:
What happens at the meeting?
At your first meeting with us, you and an employment officer among other things look at:
- your skills
- what kind of job you are looking for
- what the labour market looks like
- what support you can get from us
- what to do to achieve your goals.
Have you included all your information?
Review the information you entered when you registered with us. Have you included everything or have you perhaps forgotten a course, a previous job or a skill that you want to emphasise? Add the information before your meeting with us so that our meeting is more effective and we can give you the right support more quickly.
When you have registered with us the next step is to together draw up a plan to help you find a job or studies as quickly as possible.
You and your employment officer agree on what activities suit you best. This may for example be to take part in a webinar, write a CV or study Swedish. Then it is your own responsibility to keep your plan alive and take your own initiatives to reach your goals.
Keep track of your plan on your personal pages
You will find your plan on your personal pages Mina sidor when you are logged in with your electronic identification. You can see an overview of your activities – both those that you have completed and those that you are to do next.
If you do not have a computer or electronic identification
If you do not have a computer or a smartphone, you can visit us and use one of our computers.
If you do not have electronic identification, you can have your plan printed out on paper by your employment officer.
