Conditions for participation
You can participate in the programme if you are 16–24 years old, unemployed, and registered with us. You must also
- have been unemployed for at least 90 days during the last four months, or
- have participated in the introduction programme for the maximum period, or
- have been sentenced to prison and granted leave outside the institution or have been released on parole but have not completed one year of probation.
Arbetsförmedlingen decides whether you can participate in the programme. If you have not been offered to participate but believe that you meet the conditions, you can call us.
When participating in the programme
When you agree to participate, you can start the programme on the same day at the earliest. You and an employment officer will then plan which activities will help you find a job or education as quickly as possible. You can get help from an interpreter if you need it.
A few examples of activities:
- work experience
- job training
- labour market training, a study-motivating course at a folk high school, or Swedish for Immigrants (SFI)
- matching services
- support and advice if you are considering starting your own business.
We monitor your progress and give you the support you need.
Extra support for those with ill health or disabilities
If your health or disability impacts your ability to participate in activities, please let us know. Together, we will then determine what support you need in order to participate.
Important to know when participating
When participating in a programme, you can apply for compensation from Försäkringskassan (the Swedish Social Insurance Agency).
On the page "When you take part in a programme" we provide more information about what applies when you participate in a programme. For example, you must report sick on the first day you are ill in order to retain your compensation during sick leave, report your activities every month, and comply with other conditions.
Extent of the programme
The programme is normally full-time. If you are unable to work full-time due to illness or disability, you can participate on a part-time basis. You can also participate in the Job Guarantee for Young People on a part-time basis if you
- work part-time and receive compensation from the unemployment insurance fund
- are on part-time parental leave
- are over 20 years old and studying part-time at Komvux
- are studying Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) part-time.
You cannot take holiday when you are participating in the job guarantee for young people, but in special cases we can give you a maximum of three days off. You must apply for the leave, and have it approved by us before you can take it.
How long can I participate?
You can participate in the job guarantee for young people until
- you start working full-time
- you start studying
- you take full-time parental leave
- you are on full-time sick leave for more than one month and the programme cannot be adapted
- you are assessed as meeting the conditions for receiving 100, 200, or 300 days of compensation from the unemployment insurance fund.
Here you can read more about what is required to receive compensation from the unemployment insurance fund:
Compensation from the unemployment insurance fund (a-kassa)
You can participate in the programme for a maximum of 15 months. If you have not found a job or started studying within 15 months, you are instead able to get further support as part of the job and development guarantee programme.
How to return to the programme
If you have been absent from the programme due to sick leave, parental leave, studies, impediments, or work, and are then unemployed again, you can return to the programme. You must not have been absent for more than one year. In the case of being absent due to work, there is no time limit for returning to the programme. Your ability to return to the programme may be affected if you have met the conditions or are deemed to be able to meet the conditions for receiving compensation from the unemployment insurance fund.
To participate in the programme again, you need to log in with your electronic identification on My Pages (Mina sidor) and inform us that you want to participate. We will then contact you. It is important that you answer when we call. Your programme can start again at the earliest on the same day that we draw a plan together. If you do not have an electronic identification, you can call us instead.
