Register as a jobseeker
The first thing you need to do is to register as a jobseeker with the Public Employment Service. Together, we will develop an action plan for your job search. It is important that you follow the action plan in order to receive compensation from the unemployment insurance fund (a-kassa).
When you register, enter Northvolt or a subcontractor as your most recent employer – this way, we can provide targeted support for your job search.
Do you need an interpreter at your first meeting with an employment officer? Mark that option when registering.

Extra support through an EGF project
If you have been let go from Northvolt or a subcontractor, then you are entitled to extra support. Among other things, you can receive help earlier than usual and receive tailored support in order to find a new job faster.
The support is provided by the Public Employment Service through the EGF Northvolt project, which is financed by the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for Displaced Workers (EGF).

Tips on available jobs

More forms of support when participating in the project
When you participate in the project, you may also be entitled to the support listed here. Contact your Public Employment Service office for a decision on participation.
Support you can receive as a participant in the project:
Academic Fast Track (korta vägen)
Compensation for travel costs (in Swedish)
Swedish for Immigrants – SFI (svenska för invandrare)
SFI is a study programme organised by the municipality in which you live. If you are receiving compensation from the unemployment insurance fund, you can usually continue to receive this compensation while studying. Contact your unemployment insurance fund to be certain. If you are not entitled to the unemployment insurance fund, then in some cases you can receive activity support via EGF Northvolt while studying.
Compensation when applying for a job in another country in Europe
If you are looking for a job in the EU, Norway, or Iceland, then among other things, you can apply for a contribution for interview-related travel and relocation support through the EURES Targeted Mobility Scheme (TMS) Sweden project. Be aware that if you are from a country outside of the EU, you must have lived in the EU country from which you are applying for an uninterrupted five-year period.
