Call in conjunction with a disability or illness

If you have a disability or illness, you may need extra help to develop a suitable plan for your particular conditions. Therefore, if needed, we will schedule a special call with you to map in greater detail what work you can do and assess the support you need and can receive from us.

What will the conversation cover?

Your action plan may need to be modified if you or we think that a disability or illness is affecting your conditions for looking for work, working, or studying. In that case, we will schedule one or more calls with you to determine what is important for you to find a suitable job or to begin to study. How long it will be before it is time for your call may vary. If your situation changes while you are waiting, you need to contact us.

The purpose of the calls is to determine:

  • what jobs or studies might suit you
  • your needs
  • what support you need from us.

What will the conversation be like?

On the call, together we will map out your interests, strengths, and what you would like to be able to work with. Together, we will develop a new action plan that is based on your needs and conditions.

You will talk to one of our employees with special expertise in various areas. That might be an employment officer, psychologist, occupational or physical therapist, audiologist, deaf services consultant, or vision specialist. You will talk to the person best suited to your particular needs.

Then what will happen?

You will receive a new action plan that can help bring you closer to a job or studies that work in the long term. The plan gives consideration to the limits or challenges you face related to work or your work environment, and what support might help you in those situations.

Keep following your action plan

It is important that you continue to follow the action plan developed during your first planning meeting. That is what applies until we have drawn up a new, updated plan.

If you do not follow the action plan, it might affect your compensation, if any, for example from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan) or unemployment insurance fund (a-kassa).

How it works – step by step

1. Describe your challenges

You can do so when you sign up, during your planning meeting, or at any point in contact with us.

2. Prepare for the call

While waiting, you can start to reflect on some questions that we will discuss during the meeting.

You will receive help and guidance related to these questions during your call with us.

  • What are you good at?
    Think about your strenghts.
  • What skills and experience might be useful for a job?
  • What works well for you?
For example, activities, leisure interests, or things you do day to day. In addition, think about why these things work well.
  • What kind of work are you interested in and woul like to look for?
  • Are you ready to look for a job, contact employers, or start working?
If you do not feel ready now, what would you need to feel ready?
  • Have you experienced any challenges in previous workplaces or at school?
If so, have you found solutions to those challenges?

3. We will call you and have the conversation

Together, we will determine more about what jobs or studies might suit you and what support you need from us.

4. You will get a new, modified action plan

This new action plan is based on your conditions. The goal is for us to hone in together on what you can work with or what studies may suit you. We have also assessed what support you need from us.

5. You start the next steps

The next steps will vary depending on what you have determined. This might involve finding a job on your own, studying, engaging in activities that get you closer to a job or studies, or receiving some form of support from us.
