Arbetsförmedlingen is currently undergoing a transformation that encompasses all aspects of our operations. The goal is to provide better support to job seekers and employers – a Sweden where everyone is working.

Our main focus
- More effective support for job seekers based on their needs. The goal is to shorten the time it takes to find work or begin studies.
- More in-person meetings for job seekers with significant needs. Designated employment counselors maintain and coordinate contact with the agency.
- Increased availability by phone. It should be easier to get the right support right away.
- Improved support for employers, making it easier to contact us and access digital self-service tools. The goal is to shorten the time it takes for employers to recruit.
- Close collaboration with more employers who are open to hiring people who have a harder time finding jobs.
- More coordinated oversight activities to prevent incorrect payments as well as financial and organized crime in society.
Key milestones in the change process
- December 2024: Decision on a new strategic direction for Arbetsförmedlingen.
- June 2025: Decision on a new organizational structure and more efficient operational logic.
- January 2026: New coordinated oversight activities within the agency.
- March 2026: New organization for placement services with a focus on support needs.

By simultaneously working to reduce incorrect payments and abuse of our welfare systems, we use tax dollars more effectively and ensure they reach those for whom they are intended.
