Grant for literature and interpretation for people with visual or hearing impairments
If you have a visual or hearing impairment and need support in your job or, for example, during education at work, your employer can apply for a financial grant for this support. If you are an entrepreneur and need this support yourself, you can also apply for the contribution.
What is a grant for literature and interpretation?
The grant is intended to facilitate your work, for recurring work tasks, or when you participate in training courses, seminars, conferences, or study visits in your work. This may, for example, apply to the need for:
- sign language interpreting
- written interpreting
- sign language support (TSS) interpreting
- deafblind interpreting
- recording of specialist literature as audio media
- translation of specialist literature into Braille.
The grant does not cover interpreting costs for which the regions are responsible, known as everyday interpreting. For information about everyday interpreting, contact your region or visit the region's website.
The grant is a maximum of SEK 120,000 per calendar year per employee or entrepreneur.
Who is eligible for the grant?
Your employer or you as an entrepreneur can receive the grant if you:
- have documented reduced capacity for work due to a disability
- need interpretation, recording or translation of literature in order to perform recurring work tasks or to participate in education at work
- are registered with Arbetsförmedlingen when we make a decision on the contribution..
This is how it works
1. Plan together
Together, you and your employer plan when literature or an interpreter is needed and which interpreting method should be used.
2. Find out who will pay the interpreting costs
Your employer or you as an entrepreneur need to find out who will pay the interpreting costs before the application is submitted. Depending on the situation, the employer, you as an entrepreneur, the region or Arbetsförmedlingen may be responsible for the interpreting costs.
3. Submit the application
Your employer or you as an entrepreneur submit the application for a grant to cover the cost of literature and interpretation.
