Start your own business

Starting your own business can be a big and exciting step. In Sweden, over a million people have chosen to do so. Here you will find advice and information about support that can help you get started safely.

What does it mean to start your own business?

Starting your own business can take many different forms. You can work on your own and be self-employed or run a larger company with employees. Perhaps you’d like to offer your skills as a consultant or start a business with a friend.

The most important thing is that the business idea is viable and that there is a market for the business you want to start. As a business owner, you are your own manager. This brings freedom, but also responsibility. Your responsibilities include:

  • developing and running your business
  • customer contact
  • planning your business
  • bookkeeping and finances
  • government agency contact.

You can get help with certain tasks, such as bookkeeping or administration.
