Scientific Council
Arbetsförmedlingen’s Scientific Council brings together some of Sweden’s leading social scientists with deep knowledge of the Swedish labour market.
Ensuring Independence
Analytical work is central to the operations of Arbetsförmedlingen. The agency is tasked with continuously producing knowledge-based reports and statistics about the labour market and labour market activities.
The Scientific Council plays an important role in maintaining and ensuring independence, high scientific quality, and access to a network of various research environments.
The Scientific Council's responsibilities include:
- Contributing to quality assurance of particularly important analytical work.
- Providing advice and feedback on the development of the analysis department's methods and models.
- Strengthening the analysis department's connections to and interactions with the research community.
Appointed by the Director-general
The council consists of six members appointed for a specific term by the Director-general. The council meets about four times a year, and its work is led by Arbetsförmedlingen's analysis department.
Members of Arbetsförmedlingen’s Scientific Council:
- Lina Aldén, Docent of Economics at Linnaeus University, conducts research focused on social and economic inequality and the situation of foreign-born individuals in the labour market.
- Tommy Andersson, Professor of Economics at Lund University and affiliated with the Stockholm School of Economics. Since 2019, he has been a member of the Committee for the Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
- Moa Bursell, Docent of Sociology and Senior Lecturer at Mälardalen University and Director of research at the Institute for Futures Studies.
- Lars Calmfors, Professor Emeritus of Economics at Stockholm University and researcher at the Research Institute of Industrial Economics (IFN).
- Lena Hensvik, Professor of Economics at Uppsala University and affiliated with the Institute for Evaluation of Labour Market and Education Policy (IFAU) and the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR).
- Johan Vikström, Researcher at the Institute for Evaluation of Labour Market and Education Policy (IFAU) and Professor of Economics at Uppsala University.
