When you fall ill

If you are ill or caring for a sick child, you may need to notify the Public Employment Service. The situations in which you must do so depend on what compensation you have. For example, if you are participating in one of our programmes, you must always notify us that you are ill.

When you are participating in a programme

If you cannot participate in your planned activities, you must notify us from the first sick day. If you do not do so, you will receive no compensation for the time that you are ill. If you are ill for more than seven days, you need to submit a doctor’s certificate to the Public Employment Service to keep your compensation.

You also need to notify us if you are staying at home to are for a sick child. The notification of illness and notification of caring for a child can most easily be done on our website.

If you receive compensation in the form of activity support, development compensation or establishment compensation, you are in a programme.

These are our programmes:

  • labour market training
  • validation
  • job placement
  • support to start a business
  • preparatory efforts
  • projects with a labour market policy focus
  • the job and development guarantee
  • the job guarantee for young people
  • the establishment programme.
